Bereavement & Loss at Basingstoke
Have you suffered a loss and feel you can’t carry on. Please be assured I’m here to help you and to listen. There may not be any magical answers, but a professional can help you recover.

Bereavement is something we go through when we suffer a major loss. Most times we associate this with a death, but a loss could be that of a job, a house, a financial situation or a pet

The grief process is the same although the attachment to the loss will dictate how the grieving process takes place. Many emotions are experienced from despair, disbelief, anger, guilt and hurt.
Emotions are part of the grief, and needs to be experienced for the person to be able to move on. I can help you through the process, to allow you to move on in your life.

Because bereavement can be a slow process, the counselling sessions are not rushed, and you are allowed to experience the counselling at your own pace. Sometimes 10 – 12 sessions will be enough; in more complex situations the counselling may take 6 – 18 months. This is because everyone experiences it differently, and there are mediators which can make the grieving longer than in another situation.

I use a humanistic approach which allows you the time and space to come to terms with your loss.
Whether it’s someone close to you, or another kind of loss, please feel free to call for a free consultation to see if this counselling is right for you.

My training was with the EBS at NHS Moorgreen Hospital, Southampton, and I incorporate my training as a counsellor and therapist.
Grief Therapy is slightly different to grief counselling. Grief therapy is when the loss is in the past rather than more recent.
This helps a person overcome a loss from years ago, which they may have not fully grieved at the time. This may have occurred because they were young and had no emotional support, or they had to be strong for others (like a parent being strong for their children after losing their spouse) and these types of things can interrupt the natural process of grief.

So whether the loss was recent, or in the past, please call me if you need help and support.
